Tell Me A Story

Insanely detailed embroideries, beaded motifs and a kaleidoscopic mix of colors describe Ankur Gupta’s designs. This collection is titled “Ambiguous Desires of a Child” and was inspired by three themes – children, dreams and interpretations. The designer tried to tell stories that incorporate the surreal side of Hinduism into his sense of humor/irony. The result was one beautiful collection indeed.

Stray dog or Werewolf?

Daido Moriyama, Stray Dog, Misawa, Aomori, 1971; gelatin silver print; Collection SFMOMA, gift of Van Deren Coke; © Daido Moriyama

The Dream Catcher

Federico Fellini- Italian Film Director known to blur the lines between dreams and reality..

“I discovered that what’s really important for a creator isn’t what we vaguely define as inspiration or even what it is we want to say, recall, regret, or rebel against. No, what’s important is the way we say it. Art is all about craftsmanship. Others can interpret craftsmanship as style if they wish. Style is what unites memory or recollection, ideology, sentiment, nostalgia, presentiment, to the way we express all that. It’s not what we say but how we say it that matters.”-Fellini

“A created thing is never invented and it is never true: it is always and ever itself.”-Fellini

“There is no end. There is no beginning. There is only the passion of life.”-Fellini

“All art is autobiographical; the pearl is the oyster’s autobiography”-Fellini

“You exist only in what you do.”-Fellini

Dungen

I’m still dreaming about this concert I went to in September at that great little venue, Bottom of the Hill. Dungen’s the band and they are not only an extremely talented band , but they are a hell of a lot of fun to watch. I can’t understand a word they’re saying but its all music to my ears. The Swede band was charming and humble , but rocked hard and long. They played an over 3 hr set. It was amazing the whole way through, one to remember. I will definitely make a point to go see them anytime they are in my town. Love this band!

Seeing Red

My lips and tongue are stained red from the pomegrante I just ate. My fingers remind me of a beautiful henna. I am a happy girl.

My mood permits me from pulling each little red bead from the skin of the fruit one by one so instead I sink my teeth into it and slurp my way through. I sprayed myself and my blouse with pomegranate juice and admired the beauty of the red magenta hue of its juices splattered upon my top. I think I love the color it leaves on my lips so much I might buy a pomegranite tinted lip gloss .
